Ventriloquist Todd Oliver will bring his friends, Irving, the “talking” dog, and Pops, Miss Lilly, and Joey — Oliver’s suitcase family — to the Washington Community Center stage Monday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. for a hilarious 85 minutes of comedy, music, and laughter. Oliver’s program, “The Funniest Night,” is part of the Washington Concert Association 2018-19 series.

Oliver grew up loving dogs, ventriloquism, and rock’ n’ roll music. As a young boy, he studied piano, guitar, voice, and ventriloquism. Along the way he created his woodenheaded characters and later welcomed Irving, a live dog with a mind and “voice” of his own.

In addition to experiencing Irving’s canine humor, concertgoers will have a chance to learn about furry friends awaiting adoption at the local animal shelter, PAWS & More of Washington. PAWS representatives will be on hand to chat about the shelter’s missions and achievements and present ways citizens can support animal health and rescue. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring canned dog/cat food, clean used towels or blankets, animal toys, or any other item on the shelter’s “wish list,” which can be found on its website, http://pawsandmorewashington.org/donate.

Todd Oliver and Friends have performed nationally. They have been featured on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late show with Craig Ferguson, and The Today Show. In 2012, they were semifinalists on America’s Got Talent.

Co-sponsor of this night of fun and family entertainment is the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge, as will youth high school age and under. Adult single tickets cost $18 and will be sold at the door. The Community Center is located at 2227 250th St., Washington, near the North entrance to the county fairgrounds.
