Arrests

A caller early Tuesday morning at A Avenue in Kalona reported that his girlfriend came into the bedroom while he was asleep and put him into a chokehold. The caller declined needing medical attention but was requesting an officer. Two officers responded. Tegan Isabelle Rose Thompson, 29, of Kalona, was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault impeding air flow.

An officer reported being out at a residence with a subject who was wanted out of Washington County, Tuesday morning at South Avenue C in Washington. John Edward Walling Jr., 41, of Washington, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear on possession of controlled substance, third or subsequent offense. Bond/$6,000 cash only.

Traffic accident

A caller Monday night on Highway 218 in Riverside reported hitting a deer on Highway 218 between mile marker 77 and mile marker 78 with her Honda Pilot. There were no injuries. The caller did not believe the vehicle was drivable, and requested a deputy. Moore’s was contacted to tow the vehicle. The driver was given a state report to file.

A deputy advised hitting a deer in his patrol vehicle, early Tuesday morning at Ivy Avenue and 295th Street in Washington. There was bumper damage, but the vehicle was drivable. The deer was made final and removed from the roadway.

Disabled vehicles

A deputy reported being out with a vehicle, Monday night at First Street and E Avenue in Kalona. The officer assisted them with traffic control while they got their vehicle moved.

A disabled semi was reported Monday night at 140th Street and Highway 1 in Kalona. They were working on it.

Animal complaint

A caller Monday night at 130th Street in Wellman reported that the neighbor’s German shepherd came into their yard and broke a cat’s back. They had to put it down. It was unknown who owned the cat. The caller requested a deputy. A written warning was issued to Jared Miller, of Wellman.

A caller Monday night at Deer Run Drive in Riverside reported that the neighbors’ geese were in their yard when the caller came home. The caller’s dog got out and attacked one of the geese. The caller requested a deputy. There were conflicting stories between the two subjects. The owner of the geese was advised to keep them on their own property. The incident was documented.

Burglary

A caller Monday afternoon at West Washington Street in Washington reported that someone broke into the Central Park Community Center over the weekend and took the money box. It was a silver Century lockbox with a black handle, taken along with some cash. A report will be filed.

Shoplifting

A caller early Tuesday morning on Highway 92 in Washington reported a shoplifter in the store. City units responded. A juvenile subject will be charged with fifth-degree theft. An officer transported the juvenile to his mother’s residence, and he was released to his mother. Juvenile Probation will also be contacted about the incident.

Suspicious activity

A caller Monday morning at West Monroe Street in Washington requested to speak with an officer in reference to suspicious activity. An officer spoke with the caller, and information was given in reference to resources to make contact with.

A caller Monday night at Prospect Place in Washington reported suspicious activity at the residence. An officer responded and assisted the caller.

A caller Monday night at Highway 218 and Old White Way in Crawfordsville reported a subject walking along the highway in all-dark clothing. An officer responded and provided the subject a ride to Johnson County.
