Woman killed in Louisa County accident

COLUMBUS JUNCTION - A Keota woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident Saturday morning in which a vehicle she was driving overcorrected after leaving the roadway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by Jasmine Alvarez-Gonzalez, 20, of Keota, was traveling southbound on County Road X17 at 8:06 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. The report states the vehicle crossed the centerline and went off the roadway into the east ditch. The report said the driver overcorrected and veered back across the roadway onto the west shoulder. The vehicle crossed the centerline again and was struck broadside by a 2018 PTRB driven by Steven Glen Dill, 47, of Keota, in the northbound lane. The Toyota came to rest in the east ditch and the PTRB came to rest on the east shoulder.

Alvarez-Gonzalez was taken by Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home for an autopsy. Both vehicles were towed. The accident remains under investigation.
